In the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses were closed down and travel was limited. As a project at Full Sail Online, we were to design a virtual field trip for a class. Having lived in New York City for some time, I thought it would be fun to design a short field trip around the city for my film students. I have chosen a few key tourist locations that have also been backdrops in the cinema industry.

 

The learner can choose to visit each location in any order. At each stop, they will learn a brief history of the location as well as some fun film facts. I chose locations that I thought would appeal to the diverse group of students. Locations range from the Statue of Liberty to the Apollo Theater.

 

This prototype was designed as an app on mobile devices. While it serves as a virtual tour to students, the information can also supplement tourists as a physical guide once travel bans have been lifted and venues reopened.
